Mingyu Lee is a graphic designer and editor. He studied visual communication and architectural and art theory at Hongik University. Working across printed and spatial media, he practices editorial-based graphic design while engaging in research and writing based on design theory, history, and criticism. Focusing on the peripheries and infrastructures of Korean design, he explores alternative methodologies in writing design history through a research-based practice including Can Lee Younghee Speak? (2023), All the Names (2024), and Intime Library (2026).
After working at Aprilsnow Press, he worked as a communication designer at the architecture studio Society of Architecture (SoA) from 2022 to 2025. There, he led publishing, archiving, and graphic design, documenting the studio’s architectural practice and extending it through editorial and curatorial projects while developing the visual language of its built environments through signage, exhibitions, and branding. He edited and designed the SoA Annual Book series and Destructive Creation: A Workshop for Designing Zero, and worked on environmental graphic design for the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and the National Museum of Korea.
